我们都知道Windows Server 2008的Core是没有GUI的,但这并不意味着具有GUI的程序不能启动,我们也知道Virtual Server 2005在2008下工作得很好,现在MSDN的技术爱好者们不但已经将Virtual Server 2005安装在了Core上,还将它的Web应用完整地跑在了Core系统上,看上去十分有趣 官方从来没有说可以这么用,事实上他们的工作一切正常.含截图.

Running Virtual Server 2005 on Windows Server 2008 core installations
A little known fact is that Virtual Server 2005 installs and works just fine on Windows Server 2008 core installations.  All you need to do is to select to do a custom installation, uncheck the option for the Virtual Server Web Application and complete the installation.  You will then get an installation of Virtual Server that you can manage using the COM interface or using a remote installation of the Virtual Server Web Application:

   

Pretty cool - but just a reminder for people that as Windows Server 2008 is still a prerelease platform - this is not an officially supported configuration.

Hi Ben,

just to let you know I installed VS2005 R2 Sp1 on Windows Server 2008 beta 3 and when I tried to connect with VMRC I could not. Well I solved it and put it in my blog, put since have the central repository for all VS related matters, maybe you'd like to put it. Hell you might even want to put some screenshots that I was too lzay to put

hi all

how running server2008 b3 on VBirtual Server 2005 r2sp1? easily but only with one hdd... when you add two hdd setup cant recognized hdds and setup failed
